It is a time when the name you have given to your wonderful bundle of joy can be shared with all……a time when Godparents, Guardians or Mentors can be appointed and recognised……a time when your commitment to your child can be witnessed by those close and dear to you.
This can also be symbolised by lighting of candles, planting and dedicating a tree, releasing of balloons or reading special verses or sealing a time capsule. These days, many parents feel that they do not want a traditional church christening, either because they do not hold any religious beliefs themselves, or because they want their child to be able to choose their own beliefs as they get older. The ceremony can be held where ever you wish.
Your child receives an A4 parchment certificate. The Guardians (or Godparents) will also receive a certificate.
The name giving ceremony that I provide will in no way prohibit the child from making any future religious or non-religious commitment of belief. In fact during the ceremony it will be stated that, it is the duty of all of us, in the coming years to present the child with a broad view of life and encourage them in the virtues that we all agree as good - integrity, honesty, concern, fairness and love towards their fellow human beings.
